1) Digital detox one day a month: exercise, sauna, meditation, reflection on goals and journaling, read a book, no phone. 2) Quick clean 15 minutes a day: Spread bed; clear the sink; wipe down tables. 3) One organizing project every Sundays (write it down and rotate): clear inbox / unsubscribe; organize kitchen / entry / bathroom / living room / bedroom; shred and file physical papers; repair clothes / clean shoes; organize digital files; organize photos on phone / computer; clean up passwords. 4) Throw/donate a little every day. Use the beauty products I have until empty before buying anything new.

spent all day tidying up my room and going through my closet and craft cart. filled up several bags of stuff iā€™m not using to sell/donate/post on Buy Nothing. i also reorganized my desk drawer to make it more conducive to letter writing instead of being glorified cable storage. i love figuring out the best layout to reduce annoyance and put the stuff i (want to) use most at my fingertips. now i can see my floor again and iā€™m filled with peaceful anticipation of all the little crafts i hope to putter around with this year. next task: decluttering my computer desktop šŸ„“

i put off so many things i want/need to do and cleaning my room has been one of them. i fully swept (like moving furniture around n stuff), wiped down my bedside table and dresser, cleaned my windowsill, and even set up a diffuser. kandi bracelets and spare keychain materials in the teapot i thrifted, can tab collection in an empty pill container, mini-fridge magnets straightened out so they stop falling. everything feels so much more comfortable and pleasant, even if clutter is still piled up on my desk.

Put everything in one big pile in the middle of the room. If you have a lot of stuff itā€™s going to look and feel insaneā€”this is good because itā€™ll make you aware of how much you have. Sort everything into three piles: a pile for yes, a pile for maybe, a pile for no. After youā€™ve finished go through the maybe pile and be critical, discerning, decisive, erring towards no as much as possible. Once youā€™ve gone through the maybe pile and have your two yes and no piles, put everything from the no pile in bags or boxes to give away. Find a place or devise a solution to store everything in the yes pile in an organized and clutter-free manner where itā€™s tucked neatly away. If you canā€™t find a place for everything you either have to get more creative or get rid of more stuff! Then make a habit of putting everything away when you're finished using it and cleaning a little bit every day as maintenance.

Do you feel like there were missed opportunities? Why? - How to deal: Internalize that life is a series of random events with outcomes you have minimal control over. You have control over how you cope with those outcomes. You have control over what situations you put yourself in to create better random events. - Books: The Art of Possibility by Benjamin Zander You feel overwhelmed or hopeless about current events? You want to go back to ā€œbetter times.ā€ - How to deal: Thereā€™s no such thing as ā€œbetter times,ā€ just times where we were less bombarded by an endless news cycle. Sensationalism sells - replace fast bites with documentaries and books. - Books: Same as Ever by Morgan Housel; Enlightenment Now by Steven Pinker You feel anxious about your current situation? You want to go back to ā€œbetter times.ā€ - How to deal: Stop doomscrolling social media. Stop looking at what others have with envy - they made their own sacrifices that you probably donā€™t want to make. Theyā€™re likely living outside their means. Thereā€™s no such thing as ā€œtoo late,ā€ youā€™re just as capable now at starting from scratch as you were when you first started the journey youā€™re currently on. You feel anxious about an unknown future? - How to deal: The best way to shape this future and remove the ā€œunknownā€ is reflecting on what YOUR personal priorities are, having an honest conversation about what goals do or donā€™t fit with those priorities and value, setting realistic goals, and putting together a plan that breaks your goals into steps that you can form habits around. Progress is better than perfection. Stop and appreciate what you have on the way to achieving your goals. - Books: Four Thousand Weeks by Oliver Burkeman
