every CHVRCHES song sounds the same to me (respectfully), so I wasn’t expecting their lead vocalist’s solo career to push many boundaries. but her singles have been super fresh and exciting!! “change shapes” in particular has such a fun bass line and bridge… I wish her all the best!

today is a good day to visit / revisit “the mother we share,” the surprise 2013 soundcloud debut smash single by CHVRCHES.
sometimes a song comes along, and then, most songs sound like that song for the next 5 years. this was one of those songs. it’s at least partially responsible for the sonic paradigm we’re still living in today. it slapped then and it slaps now.

really, really nice and fun pop/r&b. think it’s always interesting to see how artists step into their own post-group and think she’s taking an interesting route, especially after being in a UK pop outfit. voice feels really british r&b to me. like a voice you could hear over a grime tune even. would love to see her and kaytranada link up.
