it's something small but valuable in a time of digital censorship. use your judgment when looking at your news sources to find proper ones and keep a journal of the things happening in the country, whether it's big or small. I've been saving images and videos of things that I think will be suppressed and trying to keep a record of what's happening in case the information control gets even crazier in the future
something else I've been doing is downloading any (public domain) books I've been meaning to read (especially leftist theory) off of project gutenberg or the internet archive in case those sites get shut down.
also paying attention but trying to stay as calm as you can because they're trying overwhelm us and make us check out, which we can't afford to do right now. build community with the people around you, organize if you can, do mutual aid, start a garden, just to name a few more. there's so many ways to fight fascism, big and small

Tad Stoermer is a resistance historian and has some incredible videos on the current authoritarian regime in the United States and what we can be doing now to prepare for resistance.
This will take more the protests. It requires community and building resistance infrastructure to keep ourselves and one another safe.
I cannot recommend his videos enough.

I’m not a parent and do not plan to be. Kids can wear me out fast with their high energy and noise level; it leaves me very over-stimulated. But it’s pretty extreme when people say they ”hate kids” and I often feel it’s a reflection of their childhood and beliefs around how kids “should be.” That they were expected to be quiet, obedient, and out of the way by their parents when they were little.
It’s fucking hard to be a kid. You’re dealing with a rapidly-changing body and underdeveloped brain, managed by flawed adults who are enforcing boundaries that you do not understand. It’s confusing and hard to manage your feelings and honestly just a lot.
People are impatient with kids when they‘re brand new to the world and figuring it all out, and this is a time kids need a friend the most. Children can also be teachers to adults with how they are less habituated to the world. They teach us how to be free and open-hearted and silly and imaginative.
A good practice is to be kinder and gentler with kids. If that feels difficult, start with gentleness toward your inner child. Maybe that’s the child in your life that needs your attention and kindness most.
