there is a twice a year record show in my area, and I was just thinking about it because I was looking through my records, and my god I just love it. just a bunch of people selling their records informally. I’ve gotten so many good deals on old and obscure records from that. I found one of my favorite albums that way. and the people are such a hoot. I love it so!

Was out and about today and decided to check out my local record shop. Never have I walked into a place with such a strong vibe.
The two workers were talking about percussion quality on a specific album while I was thumbing through countless shelves of vinyls.
When I asked one of them for recommendations, they asked what I listened to and gave me a few suggestions based off of that. Super cool, great conversations. I'm new to this hobby, but damn is it cool thusfar

I enjoy physical media and creating a collection so it’s a fun hobby if you’re into that. Where I’m at we have kind of a community of collectors so it’s definitely a social thing too. If you get into it I recommend going to swap meets and vinyl nights. Stick to the albums you’d play on repeat. You can always resell if you get tired of them. But if you don‘t like the act of collecting and curating I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s also hard if you move around a lot they take up a lot of space. If you don’t want to spend a lot of money and have the time, check out estate sales for older stuff, and local record shops for used newer ones.

Sometimes, if my cat really wants my attention, he‘ll grab my leg loosely and bite me, where it hurts for a bit but leaves no mark nor blood. It’s not quite fun- but I think it serves a meaningful place in life
