it’s a poem by natalie wee and it’s so damn good. here’s an excerpt: Stop punishing yourself for being untouched. SometimesĀ a hand is just a fist. Sometimes a smile is only a knife. SometimesĀ a manĀ is only darkness taking shape. i recently got a line of the poem tattooed on my back and i love it

Sorry I keep thinking of more! Natalie Diaz’ Postcolonial Love Poem collection is gorgeous and contains one of the sexiest poems ever (first half pictured), called These Hands, If Not Gods

An epistolary love-poem that found its way to me during a totally psychotic time in my life, this, as well as Jamie Hood’s how to be a good girl, inspired me to start writing my own poetry. My dear friend was reading Coeur de Lion back when we lived together & would text me photos of stanzas that stuck out to her. We would would often have long conversations about men (obviously), boundaries, relationships, sex, self growth, etc, etc. Those conversations as well as these brilliant words by Ariana have a special place in my heart. In April, this excerpt struck me the most, ā€œI guess there’s no point saying these things we did. We know what we did. But stating them is like reinstating them inside me.ā€ Moody!!!!! Kinda dark!!!!! Real good if you’re into that kinda thing. God knows I am!!!!! Xoxo

one of my all-time favorite poems. Diaz's whole oeuvre is moving and beautiful, but the volta in this particular one--which grew out of a long-term correspondence between Diaz and Ada Limon--makes me cry every time i read it aloud.

for all of my childhood and adolescence i was a very lonely and solitary child and i thought that that was all there was for me. yesterday i was surrounded by friends who came out to see me for my birthday and we drank and danced till we could barely walk. this is a life i never thought i’d have. there is always a light at the end of the tunnel no matter how weird and dark and long the tunnel is. wait it out. it really does get better.

i just stayed out till 4 in the morning at a party with incredibly pretentious people who didnt even ask me a single question about myself. all because i have a ridiculous fear of missing something. i could’ve gone home and smoked.
