To anyone who has ever used Khan Academy, this is a must listen. To anyone who hasn’t, Sal Khan is probably the world’s most influential education reformist within the private sector. He is the founder of Khan Academy, a collection of YouTube-adjacent instructional courses on high-school-level topics available free-of-charge across the world. Khan Academy is now working on a ChatGPT-integrated product that allows students to more effectively utilize Al in the classroom, granting them access to basically a private tutor at little cost to school districts. This podcast came out about a year ago, but it is still incredibly refreshing to hear someone seeking actually measurable change within the US education system who also has a desire to provide more accessible education to the entire world. For context, Khan Academy is a nonprofit funded almost exclusively from donations, and Sal Khan could easily be worth millions if he were to bring the company public. Despite this fact, he continues to state his intention never to do so even after nearly 20 years of operation.

I've been really into watching YC videos on how to start and run a successful tech start up after learning more about them during the whole OpenAI debacle. I'm like 60% sure I don't want to start my own company any time soon but it's still really interesting to me to hear about how these people think and a lot of does really apply to any corporate/tech job in general. (I do feel conflicted though because I'm sure most of these people are cash grab capitalists trying to get rich quick and are insufferable to talk to IRL tho, but sometimes they do say interesting stuff I haven't thought of before and agree with)

- How American astronauts had about a 10 year period where they had to launch in Soyuz spacecrafts out of Kazakhstan (vs. American shuttles out of Cape Canaveral) and the US gov has to purchase seats for Americans on said space craft. We spent about $4 billion on those seats. - How money begets money begets money….and particularly the way it is all incubated in private high schools and universities. (Sorry for paywall articles, maybe you can access…)
