when i was a kid i'd watch the boston marathon with my mom and eat a spongebob popsicle from the ice cream truck. i still go and watch the nyc marathon every year, because i think it's cool to watch 50,000 people achieve athletic excellence, and it feels life affirming to be amid a crowd of strangers cheering on other strangers. it's very joyful.
