A stunning podcast that I’ve been listening to for years hosted by Josh Korda who uses modern neuroscience to back up what the Buddha taught. Each ep is a 30 min talk followed by a guided meditation. Him and his wife, Kathy Cherry, also lead fantastic retreats in upstate NY. Transcendent & essential.

😃
This podcast is one of my faves!! Each ep is filled with simple reminders for the soul. A heart to heart hug mmmmm. Ep 245 especially hit. A reminder to take off the spacesuit and lean into the full spectrum of ze human experience 🤪🤪👽👽

So into this podcast right now !! The last forty minutes of this episode contain some real gems about the relationship between spirituality and politics, dark nights of the soul, and self examination

Listening to really fast jazz and instrumental rock jams somehow matches the speed my brains going and everything clicks - it gives me an extra kick of dopamine to help me get through whatever task I’m doing and and entertains/distracts me from getting distracted by everythjng else going on outside my brain and lets me just focus on the task at hand. I get less sidetracked bc I’m already entertained by the music and therefore am not looking for other external sources of dopamine while doing something I don’t like doing like homework. I love phish and yussef dayes for this. and adderall

School made us think reading is a holy act. It is not. Its just something to do. Like watching a movie or sports. You aren’t going to be tested by anyone. Read high. Read drunk. Read 2 pages. Read half awake. Remember nothing or just some of it. It really doesn’t matter

I'm reading blood meridian. Its sad and hard to read and I'm not sure I fully understand it. But i can't stop thinking about it and I keep wanting to pick it up. I'm hoping there's some second-hand spirituality and insight im gaining by fumbling through the pages. If not, the ride alone has been fulfilling in its own way. Maybe the things you don't understand are the only things worth thinking about. Or maybe thats just what an idiot like me tells himself.
