Ace HaRdware on Grand Ave in oakland
I get the warm and fuzzies every time I go to Ace Hardware. I love every store employee who always knows how to solve whatever problem I’m there for, and I like the red vests they wear. I always walk out of that store feeling happier than when I walked in.

Ugh this just brought me so much unexpected joy since in another life (ok 2019-21) I lived right up the hill from it (top of Jean St.) and had so many feelings about Ace. It was so great living right by it (even if it meant giving myself shin splints walking back up the hill with my purchases).

nifer hahaha bringing me back! Spent a lot of time taking silly lil walks around Warfield and such, or just using the hill to justify my almost-daily visits to Arizmendi. This is the best kind of nostalgia.

Mom and pop hardware stores
They’re always stocked with products that last and are vetted. No looking at online reviews. The clerk who appears and disappears out of nowhere will help you find the niche cleaning product that they’ve been using for 30 plus years. I feel safe and held.
