I did this without realizing it would be much more helpful than just [11am Do New Habit]. I haven't been following through on my new habit lately, but I feel bad dismissing that plea from my would-be better self. It's really, really difficult to start a healthy habit so do not worry when you aren't perfect! If you can, make it a habit that you do first thing in the morning so there are minimal obstacles that could throw you off. Do not try to start more than one habit at a time! Best of luck!

if you are trying to build a habit out of something you enjoy doing, but still something you have difficulty getting yourself to do, set an extremely small daily goal. if you want to write, write one sentence every day at same time. if you want to play music, play one note every day at the same time. by setting the goal low and doing it daily, you will find that on most days you do more than that one sentence or one note. creating the habit actually exposes how much you love doing the thing. i'd suggest restricting yourself to this little bit for like a week straight just so you can build the habit. by the end of that week you will be bursting with a desire to do more than that one sentence or one note. this also means that later, once the habit is implemented in your life, if you have an off-day where you really don't have the inspiration, all you have to do is write one sentence or play one note. i think the trouble with building habits is the pressure to upkeep them. it's so hard to start because you're not just initiating an activity for your day, you're trying to initiate it for the rest of your life. but if you set the goal small you will exceed it, and the pressure will fade.

Hold yourself accountable to doing them with some kind of habit tracker, then once you can consistently do those start adding on other things. Try the Fabulous app! I used it to build self discipline when I was like 22 years old lol

when I'm behind on something there's this inbuilt tendency—as a response to already being underwater—to procrastinate even more but that tendency to procrastinate but be treated with cheerful ruthlessness: oh hell no! Best of luck. You've got this. It's going to be great! Now get moving.

The occupation persists, the oppression persists, the torture persists. The occupiers are psychotic and their work is never finished. People who’ve paid attention won’t be surprised by this photo from Gaza.

I’m 50, I say because that makes me unusual in this context. I paid [redacted] for a ticket to the Eras Tour after listening to tswift for 3 weeks, and it was worth it. In second grade my teacher gave kids birthday spankings over her knee, and in sixth grade my teacher told my mom I hadn’t blossomed yet. I’m a good friend, mostly to people on the internet. I’m good at conversing with strangers. I’m usually the oldest person at the show but don’t feel like it. I’m good at being helpful. I’m sarcastic and funny and make myself laugh. I’m a good graphic designer and a conscientious driver. I’m a good photographer and I can successfully follow recipes. I don’t use my Peloton enough. I did a lot of caregiving for my mom for several years, and we enjoyed spending time together even if it was mostly in waiting rooms and my car. The fastest I ever ran a mile was eight minutes and six seconds. I drove the same car for 20 years and then replaced it with another one. I enjoy tipping, giving money to people on the street and Disneyland. I am a fan of baseball, Formula 1 racing and the Criterion Channel. I solve about 80% of New York Times crosswords. I take Prozac and Wellbutrin, and take Trazodone to sleep through the night. I wish I had a glassed in solarium so I could sleep in it on rainy nights. I would like to have a pet cat and a garage. I could happily live eating only cereal and fruit. I overshare on the internet and undershare elsewhere. ✌️💛
