Lyrically clever (the story of someone convincing themselves they're not in love through a series of non-convincing vignettes) Musically sophisticated (the backing vocals are some of the most magical sounds ever recorded to tape -- the full story of how it happened is worth checking out especially if you're into music production or composition) Kelsey Lu's cover for the Euphoria soundtrack is pretty badass too. I've probably been listening to this since it first came out and I heard it on the radio as a kid and I'm not sick of it yet. Which is saying something. “Big boys don’t cry.”

this song feels so otherworldly to me in the best way possible. the lyrics are beautiful of course, but the production is really what keeps me coming back to it– the synths and vocals are simultaneously nostalgic yet futuristic and there's very few songs I love that accomplish that as well as this one. (And yes Kelsey Lu!! her cover is gorgeous as well!) ✨

‘I keep your picture upon the wall It hides a nasty stain that's lying there So don't you ask me to give it back I know you know it doesn't mean that much to me’ <3333

THIS is pop music. Tight, well-produced, well-written banger after banger that still sounds fresh a decade later

Stumbled upon this song that only has 300k streams (deserves more imo) that came out in 2024 but has that 90s-2000s rom-com whimsical pop vibe that I love so much from artists like Vanessa Carlton (A Thousand Miles) and Natalie Imbruglia (Torn) They need to make more music like this!

The man responsible for dozens of Teenage Symphonies to God "Sad songs about happy things" (the first time, as a kid, I can recall the sweet/sour combo of melodies that could make you cry attached to songs about endless, bottomless love) I've long since lost track of how many weddings and funerals I've attended that have featured this song; suffice it to say, "a lot." God only knows what we'd been without him 🙏🏻

Hey tyler hopefully this doesn’t violate some PI.FYI golden rule But after nearly two years of writing, editing and arguing, my book about the EP is coming out in May and can be preordered here:
https://hozacrecords.com/product/aifl/
The book is about the origins, history and cultural impact of the EP since these little objects first started coming out in the 50s. Over 50 of my music biz friends then helped me shape the list and review the top 200 ever released, according to us (ha). For those of you who are into this kind of geekery/snobbery, I can’t wait to hear what you think. A labor of love, as all books are! ❤️
