I spent 90% of my summer writing and lounging at this coffeehouse in La Jolla, CA called The Living Room. Feels like Wes Anderson set blended w the summer beach vibes of an Eric Rohmer film + a possible stop in Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris. I would gatekeep it but the spot has been blown. And it’s a great place to chat w randoms.

My magical, not-so-secret hideout at school. Come for the $3.00 frothy chai, stay to eavesdrop on chainsmoking hairdressers recounting their lives to the resident artist, sketching away. It's for locals and graduate students, tucked under failing real estate offices on Calder Ave. Limited hours and nothing flashy, except for the old-style bean roaster jammed right next to the door. Reminiscent of Prestogeorge in the Pittsburgh Strip. Pleasant and intimate. Charming baristas. When the weather's warm, perch outside and people-watch from your safe, buried trench. Also merchants of olive oil, tinned fish, and all your italio-american quick fixes.

Love writing and chilling here when I’m in Austin. Cozy homegrown joint in a repurposed house with eclectic seating. You can spend hours here because it feels like you’re in a shared living room with all your cool weird cousins.

I’m a new student at Depaul and have spent a surprisingly short amount time searching for the best place to chill, get caffeine too late at night, and do some homework. I spent some time surfing google, yelp, reddit, random blogs, and other sources, to find a cafe that closed after 7. It was a bit hard because Chicago is a city that DEFINITELY sleeps. One day I skipped class because I just wasn’t feeling it… took the train to a new rec, and found one of my favorite places ever. Ritual Coffeehouse basically directly underneath the brown line Irving Park stop. Best chai in the city, random amazing baked goods (if you catch them!) and an overwhelming collection of vinyls, so you never hear the same song twice here. Great vibe to hang with friends, focus and get work done, or to sip a latte and performatively read feminist literature hoping to meet your new match. It also doesnt hurt to mention they‘re cozy and green patio, for when there’s too much going on inside, or it’s just too nice outside to let it pass you by. Love this place so so much. VISIT HERRRR.

Been off this app lately cuz ive been busy opening an art gallery in my hometown (San Diego) called Deixis Gallery! Been such a wonderful experience so far. It’s so beautiful to see how community comes together to help with every step along the way. Friends came by and helped paint, do construction, a friend of mine built us some benches from scratch, and a bunch of amazing artists participated in the inaugural exhibition. So hyped, truly recommend. And shout out to allstnyc for the encouragement back when I first posted an ask about opening a gallery! 🤞🏿🤞🏿🤞🏿also if you find yourself in San Diego, make sure to stop by! @deixisgallery

Spent a month in a cabin in a rural town in Washington state and fell in love. Spent my days gardening, writing, cooking, working out with logs and trees, just living the most simple life. Being back in a city makes me sick to my stomach now and capitalistic 🤮. It sucks.
