memory den, hollywood vintage: warehouse-size thrift stores with incredible vibes. i have to spend at least 90 minutes in here every time. skip house of vintage, popular but insanely expensive and the selection kinda sucks tokyo sando, snappy's: places for incredible sandwiches. just been very into sandwiches lately daily feast: my favorite diner. try the biscuits and gravy. they also serve Spella coffee which is my favorite locally powell's and mother foucault's: polar opposite bookstores, powells is very touristy and a bit expensive but really fun to explore and deserves most of the hype. foucault's is tiny, packed to the rafters and super cute

gonna try not to repeat anything that lucius rec'd Coffee: Matryoshka: except this one i will repeat because it is that great. i'm a regular here because the folks there are lovely, the vibe is very cozy and fun, and the drinks are AMAZING. like the coffee alone is just solid but they also make the wildest specialty drinks. Retrograde: Shagbark latte>>> Weak Coffee: lil coffee cart hosted in a drum store in east, there's also All or Nothing Bagels in the parking lot which slaps IMO but east coasters may be underwhelmed Restaurants: Tempo: Texas style breakfast/lunch place with great coffee too Bill's Sandwich Palace: their french onion shroom sandwich i would do terrible things for Jerusalem Reebar Restaurant: slept on palestinian food place, great schwarma and best pita & hummus in town Hearts: gotta disagree with lucius here, this place has the best sprouts. Dicey's: fun pizza restaurant with a nice outdoor area Soy Cubano: mojo pork and plantains go crazy, also good coffee! Bars: Dino's: classic spot, good dive bar vibes with solid food as well. perf for after a night out since they're open late Bearded Iris Sylvan Supply: if you're into craft beer, they got nice draft cocktails too Bay 6: tiny lil microbar with excellent cocktails in east but they have good outside space so make sure to go when it's nice out Stores: East Nashville Antiques: antique mall with a great selection of vintage Starland Vintage: they got some wild stuff here Rooted: if you're into sneakers/streetwear Parks: Warner Parks: if you want a place to hike they got miles of trails twisting through here Shelby Bottoms: lovely park along the Cumberland, if you take the trail along the river there's a pedestrian bridge that crosses it Others: Belcourt Theater: for all your indie movie needs Play Dance Club: only place i've found with a decent DJ in town Howdywood/Soft Junk: if you're into punk/noise and there's a show on while you're here you GOTTA experience this place

food, parks, clubs, indie

food: - un bien in ballard, make caribbean sandwiches (#1 sandwich in washington, #2 in the states) if you do nothing else eat here - teriyaki, spots are a dime a dozen and are all pretty similar but it started here and is pretty delicious. j kenji lopez alt has been running around seattle eating at all of them recording shorts - bangrak market, sit-down thai in belltown. good eats good ambience good music (honorable mentions: pink door near pike place market if you like italian / seafood, dick’s drive in if you’re sloshed and need something to soak up booze for cheap - dick’s is a seattle institution) parks: weather’s already nice as hell so going to a park with a joint is a go to if you don’t wanna spend any money but wanna kill some time. my top two: - gasworks. retired gas plant turned into public art display on lake union. best park in seattle imo - cal anderson. it’s on the hill so it’s usually active, has a skate park if you wanna watch people do tricks, lot of people bring their dogs off leash, sometimes there’s volleyball or live music, just a real happening spot where a lot of people congregate in when it’s warm (honorable mentions: green lake park, kerry park, volunteer park, jefferson park) clubs: seattle nightlife is a toss-up sometimes (i tend to prefer events to venues personally) but kremwerk is reliable. i don’t drink so i don’t have a lot for you by way of bars but i’ve heard great things about comet tavern, still liquor largely depends on the night but can be cool, six arms is inoffensive, and sugar hill has a second floor bar where they spin a lot of music from the bay area indie: by far seattle’s bread and butter is just cool small businesses. a lot of ’em close earlier but my personal favorites: - bookstores: left bank books in pike place, elliot bay books on the hill - record stores: al’s records and games, neptune records in the udistrict. jive time in fremont, empire records in columbia city - vintage: late night market on the hill, fremont vintage mall in fremont (for volume; prices are gonna be out the ass bc both places are curators. still fun to pop in and look around) - coffee: station on beacon hill, coffeeholic in columbia city, espresso vivace, overcast coffee on the hill, armistice in roosevelt - barcades: jupiter bar in belltown, raygun lounge on the hill. a lot grungier / hometown feeling than say, a dave and busters or something comparable (a lot of these recs are in / accessible from the city center so they’re predominantly white neighborhoods - if you’ve got time to venture farther out i feel like columbia city is def worth the trip - show some love to geraldine’s, island soul, emma’s bbq.) (also, do tourist-y stuff - skip the space needle and go to columbia center instead, it’s cheaper and taller. pike place is dope and has a lot of really old businesses like holy cow records, golden age collectibles which was the first comic book store in the states, and the gum wall)

peanuts gallery, Western Front, spartacus books, Macleod Books, New Town bakery, Meet on main

idk if all of these are hidden but i love them dearly. Bonus to Honeybee brunch spot but i feel like that one is a lil obvious lol. 🥜 Peanuts Gallery - diy art space and studio, it’s a lil hole in the wall, the work is audacious and it reminds of the joy of creating rather than being perfect. 🏚️ Western Front- one of the oldest ARCs in Vancouver i believe. Amazing gallery, beautiful building, and very interesting art works that you may not see everywhere. I saw a show where the artist brewed 4-5 different beers, one using selenite!!! ✊🏻Spartacus Books - anarchist book store, awesome book selection, and it feels like they’ve distilled the community feeling of a library into this tiny store. 📚Macleod Books - i love this bookstore, books piled up on the ground, amazing rare books just on every corner, some amazing reference books if yr an artist. Prices are high ish for used books, but that feels like every used bookstore nowadays 🥪New Town Bakery - fucking insanely delicious buns, fluffy as fuckkkk and it makes me so happy. 🙂‍↔️MeeT on Main- met my cousins for the first time and had gay lil cocktails with them. amazing food, vibe is a lil too cool for u but that’s okay for some nice hedonism.
