feels obvious to even suggest this but have walked up to a nearby farmer's market by my work and bought veggies on a whim. my real amazement isn't about the amount or quality you can get for a price that (for me, at least) doesn't seem that much different from grocery store prices. it's about how fresh it stays!! my kale! jalapeños! red cabbage! these onions! usually produce from grocery stores are done within a week, some certainly less. the fresher it stays, the more you can get your money's worth. feels a bit silly to realize this, but wow it's true!!!

Nothing tastes better than soil of the earth produce you get for a pound at the local farmers market. Now that I’m 22 I have gone into a bit of a health fad and take vitamins, care about my gut health and… buy seasonal produce. Lowkey nothing tastes better than fresh lemons. They’re cheap and divine, and a squeeze on anything makes a dish so much more better.

pictured are prairie cherries (so insanely tart and delicious) and Amish strawberries. I also got a quarter of a pasture raised chicken, heritage pork bacon, grass-fed beef ribs and ground beef, cucumbers, dill, and broccolini… thank you farmers for my life!!!!

go to the farmer’s market and pick out something you‘ve never had or something you haven’t had in a while!! add novelty to your cooking!! this week i got brussel sprouts (have not made in a Very Long Time) and last week i got leeks (very good in soup & you can use the leaves for vegetable stock)
