HITCHHIKER’S guide to the galaxy
it takes so long to get into, with all those weird words, but it’s just a lotta fun and a cool read nonetheless.
i’d also like to mentionnnnn that Le Carre, specifically A Spy Who Came In From The Cold, is great (though I haven’t finished it yet 😭 the writing is veryyyy gripping, and it’s got enough going on to keep you interested.)
i’ve developed a penchant for older books/media, for no apparent reason loll, but yeah 😊😊

OH MY GODD THIS WAS MY FIRST FAVORITE BOOK OF ALL TIME i read the whole saga edition in fifth grade and everyone was like wtf are you reading (ok i might have been a... bit more advanced in reading level πŸ’€ ok like a lot more advanced) good memories with this book /the saga... made me laugh out loud like crazy, movie is okay but u know what it can never do the book justice and that's because the source material is just that good 😭 also u should read the authors note/preamble from the edition i read because he talks about how he came up with the idea for the book while drunk in the middle of the night lost and lying in a field while hitchhiking in austria and not speaking the language of anyone there and in the middle of nowhere πŸ’€

sofii OMGGGGG YESS, I’ve got the preamble version (the whole series actually 😭) and i LOVE IT, so fun to read the forewords, it’s so cool to see cool people be inspired by such a fun series!! have you seen the MOVIE btw? what a journey (and EDGAR WRIGHT πŸ”₯)

coolismi OMG A FELLOW HARDCORE FAN omg i HAVE watched the movie and while I say the movie is never as good as the book... the movie is still REALLY DAMN GOOD, the dolphin song for so long and thanks for all the fish was just great 😭 a lot of love for the book in there

i spent so much of last year reading research based nonfiction that i forgot i could read for FUN and boy is this book a fkn ride
quality, humorous science fiction written in the 50s. of course there are some unsavory snags because of the time period in which it was written, but all in all it's a fantastic cheeky commentary that feels as relevant today as it must've then.
if u like sexy aliens, love (?) triangles, and anti-war comedy, this is a good one!

If you’re looking for an extended prequel universe for the Flight of the Concords song Bowie this is it. be prepared for horrific aliens who adore poetry, a new drink you’re dying to taste and never can and don’t forget your towel.
The books good.. the 1978 radio play.. better.
