I have so many mixed feelings about Miami but currently the first things that come to mind are that song, Spanglish, driving a really long time just to see friends and endless traffic, guava and cheese pastelitos, bath and body works lotion and how my grandma would apply it to her hands every time she washed them so her skin wouldn’t dry out, loud gossip trains that you hoped weren’t about you, getting publix subs before going to the beach and savoring every bite, driving with the windows down on the rickenbacker causeway on the way home from the beach and enjoying that really tired half baked feeling from lounging in the sun and water all day, sweaty sweaty winters, sweatier summers, and somehow everyone you’ve ever met in your life knowing each other too

Ay Ay Ayyy I will Voooote!!! (But not actually) My mom’s side of the family is Cuban and I know exactly what you mean. Maybe not the Miami specific stuff cause I’m from SoCal but the Cuban-ness of it. It just hits me a specific way and reminds me of most of my extended family and my grandma especially. Also kinda reminds me of the way I LoveHate Lin Manuel Miranda. It just has the opposite politics of that.

Olga guillot - MIÉNTEME

I spent last week in Merida México and followed my mom around as she said “Look at that“ to no less than 10 things per city block.
here’s a short list of just a few of the things she pointed out to me and why she found them of interest:
building (pink) building (new paint) building (window boarded up “why”) dog (big nipples) man (one leg) man (”Chinese”) building (had a tree growing out of it) wall (blue “look at that blue wall”) building (“some sort of store in there”) man (no legs) woman (red shirt “now that’s a red shirt”) man (jogging/“exercise is good for you”) man (”tall for Mexican”) old car (“was there last year too”) Ice cream store (”went there/not good”) building (green) tree (big)
Anyways we went to a music museum (Palacio de la Musica) and it was great. learned about a lot of great songs and artists and this one stuck out to me.

Been having a lot of fun with Bad Bunny’s latest passion project, so here’s a breakdown of my favourites.
NUEVAYoL - an album that opens with a banger is always a great sign. Showcases perfectly the Latin/pop vibes you’ll find on the rest of the album
BAILE INoLVIDABLE - starts unsuspecting, and then it kidnaps you into a ballroom, forces you to salsa, and finally slaps you with the best piano solo (I dare you to listen to it and not make a stank face)
TURiSTA - I’m just a sucker for a good ballad on the guitar
CAFé CON RON - I wouldn’t mind having this as my morning alarm, Los Pleneros de la Cresta are so much fun

I took it in a canon rebel g that I was lucky enough to find at an estate sale for about $20 and it’s by far my favorite pic I’ve ever taken! I think the film is like fujifilm ISO 400 or something idk but I love the colors it brings out
