The piece of land between the sidewalk and street, aptly named the hellstrip, doesn’t have to be boring, tedious grass. I planted some hardy, low-growing sedums and moneywort in mine last year, and it’s still going strong with very minimal effort. Less work for me, more beauty for pedestrians.

This is some highkey nerd shit that I honestly don’t talk about much 🙈 But getting into botany has changed my life and this summer especially I‘ve seen some really incredible plants/habitats. I visited an “extreme rich fen” ecosystem here in CO last month that is home to 14 rare plant species - and I got to see most of them! 🥲 Pictured below is Primula egaliksensis which only grows in two places in the contiguous U.S. Anyways highly rec wandering around outside in remote, beautiful places to look for plants. It has given me a whole other level of awareness and appreciation for the land I call home 💞

this book very much puts the “short” in short book, but it was such a treat. it’s definitely more of a mellow and low-key story, but it’s so beautifully written, especially in the subtle ways it delivers its themes. i highly recommend giving it a read, it took me only a couple of hours so it’s definitely a good low-commitment book if you’re pretty busy like me.

might’ve heard of both before but they’ve been my comfort youtubers for quite a while now. :) mina le does video essays on (imo) really interesting topics, she’s very well spoken and she puts a lot of research into her videos which make them really fun for me because she always introduces me to a lot of good reading material if i want to explore the topic further. csop does videos on reading and about books, he’s super funny it’s fun listening to him talk about books he likes (or dislikes)!
