And with that I mostly just mean to say that it takes practice. It takes practice to get comfortable in front of the camera and it takes practice to find the angles, poses and outfits that you look good in. Also!! The photographer has a lot of influence in the outcome of the pictures. A good photographer knows how to find someone's best angles and knows how to make the 'model' feel comfortable. So know that if someone takes a bad picture of you.. it might also just be that they are bad picture takers.
Anyway, something that might be helpful is to practice posing by filming yourself on your phone and discover poses that you like and don't like. That way you get to control the angle and the light and get to try a lot of different things.
There is also this really great photographer who gives posing advice on Instagram but I forgot his name.. if I remember I will link that to this post.

My photography is extemporaneous and best described as documentary. But my friend who models keeps asking me to do concept shoots. I'm still not completely sure what a concept shoot is or how to answer questions like, "where should I stand?" or "how should I stand?" or "what movement do you want?" I'm learning though.

i normally only do concert/show or street photography but as i try and shift towards working with people and doing photoshoots she's been suchhhh an inspiration on how to keep that same "candid" feeling that i utilize so much in my work but for very thought out shoots. also all her models always look like they are having fun and its a reminder that not everything has to be so serious and not every model has to give that uninterested or pretending the camera isnt there look

As y'all might know, I'm a climber. Which is fun, cute, sexy and I recommend everyone to become one. Only downside is that it's def a male dominated sport. There's plenty of girls who climb, but a large majority (in our gym) is male. Meaning that the likelihood of going on an outdoor climbing trip without men.. is small. Unless, of course, you organise a girls-only climbing trip. I would highly recommend doing so. Men r great but it's also nice to only be surrounded by girls who know what's it like to climb when you have a menstrual cycle and don't have a natural knack for dynamic power. Made me feel supported, seen and connected.
