I love reading and I love physical books but that is not aligning with this phase of my life rn. I remembered I could borrow the audiobook version of the novel that’s been judging me on my table since I picked it up from the library and wow. I can listen while I do the 50 million things I need to do in a day. Incredible!!! I can’t sit and chill and read but I can listen and cook and clean and weed and fish rocks out of my daughter‘s mouth!! Hooray!!

It makes it feel more like a movie when I can also hear the narrator. Plus, I'm a bit lazy and audiobooks allow me to put down the book and still hear the story.

something unlocked in me when I started getting into audiobooks! I put them on while I drive, fold laundry, cook, etc and now I can’t stop - my favorites recently have been nonfiction/related to current events so in a way it feels very much like a podcast substitute but with a longer runtime. I’d recommend to anyone who’s been struggling with attention/trying to make it through a physical book, it’s like an easier alternative to sitting still that still allows you to grow your brain/expand those reading comprehension skills! Libby has free audiobooks with a library card, Spotify premium also includes certain audiobooks and there are plenty of other resources online

Upper East Side. He shouted “I thought it was a Tuesday” on a Wednesday into a flip phone in the early 2000s. He sounded just like he does in the movies 💕

This is annoying advice but love has always come to me when I’m not looking for it. When I get very active in things I’m passionate about (usually leftie organizing but also art and history stuff and also just spending time with friends a la the friends of friends rec) I meet new people and find interesting, aligned folks.

I got my current role by rage applying and it’s weirdly great but still whenever I get mad at it, I either update my resume (I’m only able to boast about my work when I’m mad at my job!) or randomly apply to roles - it gives you a task to focus on and it could end up changing your life for the better.
