Just because itās something you donāt value doesnāt mean it holds no value. And then saying that what they think is true because of some stupid fucking reason thatās all anecdotal. Last month I went and got my sister's favourite watch repaired and she was really happy. Yesterday she told me someone said to her that her watch looks childish and she should grow up? I genuinely wanted to punch whoever said that in the face. She likes the watch, she will wear that fucking watch. It doesn't matter if it's a Mickey mouse watch or whatever. This kind of behaviour is just unacceptable.
It's just one example. I see people shaming others for what they post on the internet, the way they wear clothes, the way they talk, the way they walk. Even reading nowadays is seen as something "performative"... Why? I will judge someone for reading coleen Hoover but that's in my head. It is difficult to find your bearings in this digital age where everyone has a opinion about everything. If in this world, someone has a clear understanding of what they like, that is admirable. To shame someone for being different from us is just a projection of our insecurities

I donāt think itās good to view yourself as superior to others for your taste in things because we all have our own gifts. on the other hand I donāt think itās productive to attempt to view everything through a myopic moralistic lens, morality can in fact be subjective, thereās nothing wrong with liking what you like, and pretension is often in the eyes of the beholder

I think thereās so much pressure to be thinking About everything at an extremely high level, to a point where no one can admit they donāt know enough about a topic to form their own opinionā¦ this is not anti intellectualism, just i think the world would be a much more productive place if we could admit when maybe our opinions are baseless and could be more knowledgeableā¦ also sometimes i just donāt careā¦

Weāre never too old, too late, too inexperienced or incapable. Nothing is embarrassing or weird. I didnt realize how much of everything I counted myself out of because of some anxiety or preconceived notion. Itās all made up, do everything and try it all. the book has such an interesting philosophy that it explores through a sci-fi world thats also feels so close to a possible reality. itās an interesting read makes you think and sit on a lot of excerpts.
