THE BOOK OF ENGLISH MAGIC - Philip-Car Gomm & Richard Heygate I was obsessed with this book in high school. I used to bring it everywhere with me to read on the school bus. It mostly focuses on the history of magical practices in England, but it covers the modern era as well. It also includes some recommendations for locations you can visit & magical practices to try! HELLEBORE ZINE - This is a witchcraft-focused zine that I picked up at an occult bookshop in London. It was almost impossible to choose an issue to bring home, because the covers are all gorgeous! Each issue has a different focus or theme. WEIRD WALK ZINE - This one is also UK-focused, since I got it from the same London bookshop, but it's very interesting! This zine discusses English folklore, culturally significant pagan sites, and magical practices. Such a fun exploration & I can't wait to read more issues! These are all England-based recommendations, but I live in the U.S. and had a blast reading them anyway :)

4 parallel Londons in a world of elemental magic. One of my favorite series and go-tos to recommend. A fascinating world with an amazing cast of characters. V.E. Schwab started a sequel series last year, and that first book is good too!

these are all kinda books i enjoyed during my late elementary school years: the fog diver series by joel ross โ€” i had a fascination with steampunk things as a child and this let me dive headfirst into the thick of it tales from outer suburbia by shaun tan โ€” or anything shaun tan for that matter. his art is incredible and daydreaming with his works was such fun. i used to take this book out of my elementary school library almost every week just to stare at the pages a tale dark and grimm by adam gidwitz โ€” silly and spooky. perfect! and the other two books are just as marvellous :) the last wild by piers torday โ€” i think it was a book of the year in my school and i ate up story time.

This is the only thing that keeps me sane at work. It's so slow right now. If anyone is wondering why I've posted like 9 times today.

I love doing collages, cuz all you really need are magazine cutouts and glue. There's a very low barrier to entry, skill-wise AND supply-wise, unlike painting. Digital collages are fun too, but I try to have less screentime by doing the paper ones. If I want to re-use pieces instead of gluing them down permanently, sometimes I'll just take a picture of the current arrangement to immortalize it, and then start over on a new composition. That way, I don't have to constantly buy new magazines to get new cutouts. This is one of my favorite ones I've done so far:

if you have a job that lets u read in ur downtime, they're a great portable option that doesn't require you to invest full focus like you would if you cracked a novel open on the clock! plus they are cheap & open you up to all sorts of niche content you wouldn't encounter otherwise :)
