i love this album so much, it's eerie in the most ethereal way, sparse yet full. visually makes me think of the woods and feels like gathering your bearings in the middle of the night.
the pang tour was also the last live show i went to before the pandemic broke out in 2020. sold out at heaven, caroline performed songs from this record effortlessly, with soaring vocals and yodels that surpassed their recorded counterparts.
Luckily, the opening track The Gate which is way too short has an extended mix. 10 minutes of pure bliss, with caroline humming over the lushest of synths, ocean sounds and echoey church bells, which could send even a newborn baby to sleep.

i love the slow build of caroline's album to the more complex and disjointed tracks like engine and hurtle before it mellows out again. makes it all feel so cohesive and like one 45 min song

Such a stunning piece of production, I tell you. Only Caroline could think of a tabla percussion over an east-Asian flute for a pop song. I feel like Iโm in a meditative state when I listen to this. Great soundtrack for a contemplative morning zone out. Also I think the line โSexting Sonnets Under The Tableโ is just so fire. Iโd get it tattooed on me lol
