I will never forget the first time I watched this movie not knowing what to expect and coming out in the end completely charmed by this film centring a woman in a state of arrested development who practices self harm trying to seduce her sadomasochist boss into a loving relationship. Maggie Gyllenhaal is so perfect in this role I cant imagine anyone else playing her, and James Spader is also perfect casting because he definitely has the vibes of a little freak whoโs still hot for some reason. The scene in the garden makes me squeal. Also, the Japanese poster is awesome.
