Not in a creepy way.
I love looking at what they’ve got sat in their windowsill, and imagining the kind of person that stuff would belong to. Picturing the layout, and wondering if I’ll ever live somewhere similar, and whether they like it or not. I often find myself getting carried away trying to envision myself living in that place, in that location, even going as far as to imagine a career and social circles and a morning routine for myself, only to be jolted back to reality when I see the sillouhette of the inhabitant, the vague and shadowy suggestion of a real life person rather than some sort of self-insert. If I’m caught staring, I try to give them a look that says “you’d really benefit from investing in a pair of curtains,”.

I told a friend the other day I tried rolling up to the box office at MSG for Charli XCX's sold out show and my friend responded "what are you on Seinfeld?". Tea. But going to the box office is something that this digital age does not always consider. I have had much luck at any other "sold out" show in NYC by going to the box office on the day of, purchasing a ticket at face value, and strutting on into the venue. Typically the venue holds a row or so for the occasion. Unfortunately, the box office in reference at the top of this rec, did not deliver on my hopes and dreams of being Brat.

i became an AMC Stubs™️ member about two years ago. every time i go, i have a ritual of taking a selfie in the full-length bathroom mirror and adding it to a folder called “because here, they are” (a quote from the Nicole Kidman pledge of allegiance).
what i love about this practice / project is that it transforms the seemingly mundane activity of going to the movies, often alone, into a tool for tracking the passage of time. and what is a movie, if not a capsule of time passed, captured in light and color.

Video someone you love whilst they talk. Record the sound of the birds singing at your grandparents’ house, the sound of traffic in the distance. Write about literally anything, or even just make notes of what you think. Make shitty art, whether it’s poetry or painting or music. One day, you’ll be glad that you have more than just photos to remember your life by; there’ll be evidence you lived.
