A friend of mine does a six-item-per-year clothing diet, but he doesn't save money doing it. He gets a nutty bespoke suit every year. The approach has taught him to make each purchase count. (Socks and stuff don't count towards the six).
this is inspiring
— I want to be adjacent to this somehow: not ready to commit to participating in my own no-buy year but do recognize the need for it
have you done no-buy seasons before?
mattshawsome i’ve done six months of no new clothes before but still allowed secondhand shopping so this is a bit of a step up ! i think a no buy season would still be cool though, its good to reconsider what motivates us to buy
i have been doing this for a couple of years now and it has:
a) saved me tons of cash
b) meant that I can wear all the clothes I love regardless of the season
