approaching yoga as a self care necessity instead of how society views ”exercise“ as an obligation or way to achieve body image standards has changed my life. Not in drastic ways, but in a meaningful way that I think has spilled over into other spaces like journaling, drawing and being more aware of how I spend my time. I do it at home so it’s free. Taking 75-90 minutes on a weekend just for myself, with no texts to answer or things to do always feels so good. But even a 10 minute stretch session makes me more way aware of my body, releases tension in my neck, back, shoulders, hips, and gives me space to take care of myself. Moving the body how it wants to move

It is so nice to take a chill moment for yourself, and it’s really hard to. I’ve never been to a studio (yet) cause I‘m broke and anxious. I like it because it doesn’t feel like a competition, not even against yourself. It’s just moving into a position and trying to chill. It’s fine if you can’t reach your arms or whatever that far, whatever feels good, whatever your body likes. Even if it’s just 10 minutes, it really makes all the difference to check in with how your body parts are feeling, including your brain. I am procrastinating my yoga right now. I like Yoga with Kassandra and Yoga with Bird on youtube. I hope at least one person gets into yoga this way with me!

It’s so relatively cheap for yoga in New York that I just buy it whenever I want.
And it feels like a luxury!!!!
