bought a cheap sekine off my neighbor and now i don't have to go work-home-work anymore! i can go for an invigorating ride to the beach instead of going out and spending money or drinking alcohol! the sea breeze in my face and a little sweaty then i get home and take a bubble bath. it's awesome
seriously the only form of exercise I look forward to. feels more like exploring and enjoying the weather/scenery, gets you more in tune with the city, and suddenly it’s been an hour and you've gone 20 miles. you dont need to break the bank and get a top of the line micro-carbon-fiber italian roadbike that weighs half an ounce or anything either, plenty of used bikes are at shops or on facebook marketplace for a good price. all cardio and NONE of the joint pain, my hips are gonna love me in my 50s and runners stay mad about it
The air smells great and the views are beautiful. Doesn’t matter whether it’s a perfect sunny day or really overcast. Do It on your own or with friends or as a date. Stop at cool shops/places along the way.
Some people like to go fast but I prefer to go kinda slow and take everything in. you’ll definitely need a nice beverage in your cup holder like a coffee or a kombucha. My European friend really recommends drinking radlers, which are like lagers mixed with lemonade.
Got into it quite recently after ripping around nyc on one of those e-bike shares around. Living in a much more rural area, rides are quiet and calm. Meditative and great exercise. You really earn the beer at the end. Solo or with friends, any days a good day if you ride.
just booked a solo trip to seattle to see clairo on my way out to visit mi madre <3 and i have a fun dancing date this weekend maybe! making an effort to enjoy being young and cute and having no major responsibilities other than myself yahooooooo
