going through some similar motions and this measely tiktok comment unironically did like +1000 healing to my psyche. really, the key is to remember you can only do so much at once. overexerting yourself will make you too tired to consume the fruits of your labor. they will rot and/or you will not enjoy them this way. find happiness in the little, fleeting moments youā€™re able to foster for yourself and bite off only what you can chew. besides, you want to make sure not to do things in haste. you want a solid foundation for future you and your contentment and donā€™t want to find any cracks in it later down the lineā€¦

This makes me think of when Drew Gooden in a video said "I understand how tempting a shortcut can be, especially when you go online and you see all these other people making cool things and you're like: 'Man, i'll never be that talented, it would take me like ten years to learn how to make music like that'. Okay - that's fine! What's the rush? Start right now, don't worry about how long it's going to take! Just take the first step. How're you gonna do something for ten years if you won't even do it for one day?"

been working hard to internalize a quote i read online recently. it says ā€œthe time will pass anyway whether i handle it emotionally or notā€¦ how utterly pointless to suffer so much & still choose to be miserableā€. reminds me of that old Seneca quote, Something about the man who worries before necessary, suffers twice. when things already suck, i still have the option to be happy & make things better for myself. i know it sounds easier said than done but many times Iā€™ve found myself rejecting this notion when a little bit of kindness towards myself, a deep breath & some patience wouldā€™ve gotten me through. every Moment is an opportunity to turn things around & make myself happy. gratitude helps a lot w this. blurting This all out here coz i know itā€™s an idea ill soon forget once im actually in the throes of a tough time āļø

most people in the world now are going at such a fast pace that itā€™s sometimes hard to keep up with. Instead of also rushing to meet their standards, take your time. not in an asshole way, but make room for yourself to exist. Donā€™t put more pressure on your mental health ;)

started writing this a few hours ago when i first saw this ask, then decided against posting but i've since changed my mind. there really is no justification for it outside of entitlement. even from a selfish lens, there's no long term benefit to its usage. it harms the world and culture in more ways than one. a.) the water and energy usage that isn't a secret at this point. "no ethical consumption under capitalism" yadda yadda and yeah corporations are extremely culpable in the state of the environment but there really is no need for chatgpt and the planet is already too delicate at the moment. b.) the exploitation of workers in the global south. this program is not just a computer figuring it all out, there are in fact humans behind it. it reminds me of the acceptance of fast fashion and how people have the tendency to divorce the idea of the garment worker from the garment they wear when all clothing is handmade in some way, shape or form. you need hands to man a sewing machine, you need human eyes to moderate content. also, content moderation can be a thankless job with psychological repercussions. c.) the erosion of social skills, humanity and media literacy...this one is very personal. like, you have a cushy email job but can't write an email? you need a computer and a worker in kenya to get paid a dollar an hour to figure out a daily routine for you? i've seen the program churn out blatantly incorrect information. fine tuning a prompt or chat or whatever to give you the exact (possibly incorrect) answer you need isn't really that much less work than sharpening your research skills by cracking open a dictionary or using boolean search keys in google. again, the main issue with this kind of stuff is the entitlement to convenience, with no thought towards the repercussions within and outside of us. we are losing major recipes (critical thinking and media literacy) here, people! i probably did an iffy job are coherently articulating my thoughts here but i am in fact, human. and thatā€™s the beauty of it all.
