I've found doing these exercises to be extremely useful in both my spiritual as well as my creative practices. Pauline Oliveros described "Deep Listening" as a way of listening in every possible way to everything possible to hear no matter what you are doing. Highly recommend listening to the album on vinyl if you are blessed with the opportunity <3

listening to music deeply means hearing in a way that’s almost meditative… hearing each part of the song with an intensity that just feels like dissecting each piece. how does the hihat make me feel? how does the bass make me feel? what do these lyrics mean to me? it gives me a new perspective to listening to music that inspires me to make things that give a feeeeeling.

i try not listening to music with ‘lyrics’ while i work since i end up just singing to myself and getting distracted half the time.. so instead i opt for ambient tracks or jazz. but i’ve found that i can concentrate the same with foreign language albums since i am not processing the words fully given that i can’t understand them. i like still listening to the voice of another person- a whole instrument of its own- while being able to concentrate. the words become part of my subconscious as i work (usually writing papers or doing research) i’m also trying to do more activities in silence though (emphasis on trying!) so maybe ill recommend that another day

Does anyone else miss the feeling of tuning into actual radio waves? I'm so done with Spotify's stupid music rec algorithms. I'd rather listen to some college radio on my baby pink Bluetooth Lexon Tykho

If you were a diehard fan of Bojack Horseman like me, then you'll appreciate the ironic humour and witty, autochthonic sci-fi of Undone. Created by Raphael Bob-Waksberg and Kate Purdy, this show had me on the edge of my seat the entire two sittings that it took to finish watching two seasons.
