when i say i can’t recommend this anime enough like it’s got so many silly little overpowered guys, it’s got platonic soulmateship, it’s got an epic story. comfort show/manga.

I mean, there's rough moments, but like most classic Shounen anime... the ultimate message is that the power of friendship will always come through.
it's an especially good show for the specific purpose that it's about a thousand episodes (more, but some of that is filler)... and counting. So if you need background noise while you work from home, you can go on this wild ride where characters have ridiculous, silly super powers (like the guy who ate the fruit that turns him into a giraffe, or the guy whose sword ate the elephant-elephant fruit), and by the time you run out of episodes, you'll have a backlog of other stuff to watch.
okay, that's not for everybody. but it got me through the pandemic nicely.

last summer I was sitting at the pond near my apartment when I saw a green heron (i didn’t know what that was at the time) and thought to myself “there are so many birds around at all times and I have no idea who any of them are!” I’ve been having so much fun learning my local natural history and being able to tell who’s around from their songs and calls and peckings.
I wonder how many other things I’m always surrounded by that I don’t recognize because I haven’t noticed yet. Like fonts or types of bridges or insects.
