never knew what the 'great depression' rlly was and steinbeck taught me. vry informative, passionate, beautiful prose. highly recommend- especially to americans.
Iβm so lucky I didn't have to read this until college because thereβs no way I would have appreciated it as a high schooler. I will also always go to bat for Macbeth (specifically for Lady Macbeth) and Hamlet (for depression).
this is my favorite novel and makes me feel all warm inside. i love how bittersweet it is in its portrayal of fuckups and forgiveness and trust in others and changing as a person but not as much as youd like to. profoundly human and beautiful.
seriously, what a beautiful thing. i just emerged from one, oh a warm fountain of clean water. it's a real luxury. and a nice oil or lotion and a facial moisturiser. clean pyjamas. what a rejuvenating and lovely thing.
people often spend too much money on things they can make with patience, for example any single panel of wood used for any need like a shelf. u can pick up a peice of wood from loads of places and just varnish it/paint it however u want. dont fall for predatory consumerism !!!1 but carpentery
