Its the same author as come as you are, the nirvana book, and if you have any interest in indie bands or indie music this is a real page turner. admittedly Iāve only turned about 15 of those pages but I already can tell I love it. didnāt realize how many of these guys were truly DIY, indie to the bone, pressing Their own records type indie.

But now people are instantly like: āYouāre old and you suck,ā or, āYour jams are flaccidāāand it can help! Iām not saying [the Rolling Stonesā 2024 album]Ā Hackney DiamondsĀ is a genius record or anything. [laughs] But I bet Robert Plantās new music is better because of the internet.Ā

Malkmus:Ā Yeah, or heās listening to younger artists. I mean, Robert Plant seems to be genuinely interested, andĀ heās a fan of bands like Lowāunlike Eric Clapton, who justĀ says he likes the newest guitarist, and then his records sound awful.

I met Erin (@RIOTGRRRL) and Jake (@SLOWDAZZLE) last year after I started using PI.FYIāwe organized a meetup before a Jonathan Richman show and immediately clicked over our shared taste in music and similar sensibilities. We started hanging out a lot and had some great times together. Iāve also gotten to know many of their friends, who are all really cool. Erin and Jake started dating a couple of months after the three of us became friends, but our group chat still pops off. Their friendship has meant a lot to me, especially since moving to NYC in 2023, and I really appreciate having them in my life.
