i do not know when it will open again. but, just for future reference, it was an experience that i will hold with me forever. i guess it's haunted (i never experienced anything like that). there is a The Shining vibe to it though, it's a visually pleasing place. great interior, cool carpet (soft carpet). became accustomed to walking and other modes of transportation. cool place when it opens again, sorry for the dead-end lead. worth recommending/bookmarking despite it being closed.

Specifically this one in Sheffield that is so stuck in time. it’s like objectively probably not a very good hotel for its price but I just love how liminal it is. I love how hotels feel removed from reality, from time, from responsibility. Everything is deliciously suspended.

there is a big, back-lit oval opening in the ceiling that makes you feel like you’re ascending. the library itself is round! they got some cozy chairs and long tables to spread out at. the overhead lighting is cozy like a warm lamp.
my gf took us here when we were both having a bad day. it feels similar to some of turell’s works. designed by frank lloyd wright (for the heads). might be my favorite wright space i’ve found myself inside of.

The Proper is beautiful, has a sweet view on the roof + a good lobby for working w/ free counter culture coffee in the morning. but..the street it’s on has a pretty extensive encampment going on so you wanna uber in at night. Nikko is fancy and has an indoor pool but felt almost too fancy, like I couldn’t talk in the elevator.
