Now that I’m nearing 30 I thought I’d check in on Disney and Nickelodeon to see what people my age are creating for the Youths. I was surprised to find this sweet and insightful show about a family of hicks that moves to Big City. It’s silly because it’s for children but it’s also woven with a mix of punk ideals and positive messages. Check it out if you still have cable!

i dont mean bluey even tho bluey is peak TV. but animation is such a rich medium for any demographic and i deeply miss the college stoner era where the plan every night was to just put on something animated. current faves r common side effects (excellent tv show), fantastic planet (1973 sci fi), and great pretender (heist anime) and i am highly open to other suggestions

have been watching a 6 hour long youtube video that is just all 13 episodes of the 90s cartoon mission hill back to back to back. ultimate cool gen-x vibes and makes me feel good about my place as a 20-something year old slacker working a menial job in a major city

I guess it’s not really “coming of age” but it’s two young boys navigating the adult world and being pissed that they don’t own a TV lol. Lots of fart jokes. Very silly but also has a lot to say.

Every weekday I challenge myself to spend $0. If I frame it as a challenge the boring stuff becomes exciting. Making my lunch at home feels electric, like I’m winning the game. I frequently lose the game buying beers after work. Gas doesn’t count. I saved $900 last month.

The best place on Earth. Drive the Old King's Highway from the bridge to Orleans. Drink a scorpion bowl at Double Dragon, the only Chinese place with a waterfront deck. Stare at the Atlantic until you lose yourself. Drink $3 pints at the Quarterdeck, start a fight, get kicked out, and walk to the 19th Hole. Watch the college kids play baseball under the lights in the summertime. Bike among the old homes and imagine the colonial 1750's. Catch a sunfish and throw it back in.
