Not to double post about chess but if you’re going to kill time on your phone, it feels so much more dignified to open the chess app rather than one of the usual suspects (pi.fyi excluded). Good conversation starter too.

I’m no good, and probably not patient enough, but I’ve been playing chess for the last couple of weeks on chess.com and it’s been a nice way to “take a breather” — letting my thoughts focus solely on executing some master plan to take down my opponent. It’s fun to strategize and see it follow through, or learn from my mistakes when I’m inevitably outsmarted. Shorter time-based matches get super hectic towards the end which is a whole other dynamic.

if you’re a wikipedia addict like me and you like going down internet rabbit-holes, this is a cool website that will take you to random old websites that haven’t been updated in a while.
mostly it‘s a lot of old personal websites and blogs which makes it a really nice time capsule from before the internet died.
