One of the least talked-about GOAT double albums ever.
I think I caught the band live for the first time on the “Sister” tour that preceded it - I’d never seen or heard anyone abuse guitars in such a creative and unusual way before that (or since).
Not a dud track on it.
A mind-blowing, life-altering, perspective-forming monster of a release. I was and have remained a fan ever since (and Kim Gordon is a goddess, I’ll go down with that particular ship forever).
When someone says “best NYC art rock” this is automatically my go-to reaction. Like a gallery showing for a new artist you can’t wait to tell your friends about. 🖤
P.S.: Yes it sucks that they're gone and I blame Thurston, of course.

this album and it’s melodic vocals, medieval references and environmental soundscapes embody a duality of joy and ecstasy, but also of madness and frenzy just like the god bacchus
released 5 years after the end of the Cold War, political sentiments mixed with classical orchestral instruments, organs straight out of the 70s, and a classic late 90s grunge nihilistic attitude, this album has become a psychedelic time machine placebo
this album sounds like how the sun feels on your skin and makes you overwhelmingly aware of the shadows you cast on the pavement

im a curious critter. i wanna know whats up. but my social skills suckkkkkkkk. feel like i cant talk with people properly. i tend to speak in choppy sentences; thats very apparent if you talk to me casually on like discord. the way i type varies a lot; i think i type nicely here because its a serif font.
but i think its nice to know whats up with my coworkers, even if i dont care too much its good to have information, i guess
