I first came across this piece when they had an entire exhibit around it at the MOMA in I think 2022 (?) The most fascinating element of this painting is that it used to be entirely in color and Matisse went over it with red. Thatโ€™s why you can see some color peaking out. I think that is super cool. I was so enthralled with it that I decided to get a small post card of it. I keep it on my night stand, next to my bed.

I used to look at it as a kid and feel transported into it. And then one day I was in the National Gallery in DC & I turned the corner and the physical original was right there !! FAUVISM FTW !!

by Matisse. I saw this one in person when I went to London for the first time and was absolutely gobsmacked. I don't think I'll ever forget the rush of warmth I felt seeing this piece. I went back to the Tate Modern like three times in as many weeks to see it again and again and again.

colourful! mesmerizing! "The piece features three translucent methacrylate discs mounted on an off-center axis, spinning freely to generate an ever-shifting chromatic composition."

I took a shower at 4pm the other day and it was life changing. I put on a fall jazz playlist (will make a separate rec of that), lit a candle, and didnโ€™t have to turn the light on in the bathroom. At 4pm, your bathroom gets the perfect amount of sunlight. Or at least mine did. Glorious. Peak happiness

It is the best way to eat ice cream. I feel like a tiny fairy. I will make sure I sample ice cream, even if I know what Iโ€™m getting, just so I can acquire the teeny tiny spoon. 10/10 experience ๐Ÿจ
