i have seen this movie so many times that i can recite lines (and the score) back to it as they come up, which is probably very annoying. i love this movie to an annoying degree! incredible cast, the character work is amazing… cannot get enough philip seymour hoffman, jude law is a joy to watch, it’s one of matt damon’s best imo (lol), everyone is great… if i just want something on it will probably be this… also gorgeous movie to look at… truly my favorite movie of all time lol

this finnish fool gets it. if you like early jim jarmusch or win wenders this is next up in your cue. all of his 80s films are perfect. dry comedy, sad, romantic, slow, good music, relatable themes, meandering and mystical. what’s especially cool about him is that he mainly works with the same cinematographer and shoots only on film. so the movies he made in the 2000s feel and look the same as his early works. i love all his movies but i’d highly recommend starting with: - SHADOWS IN PARADISE - ARIEL - THE MATCH FACTORY GIRL - LIGHTS IN THE DUSK - LENINGRAD COWBOYS GO AMERICA

i’ve never seen any of wes anderson’s movies somehow (aside from mr fox and henry sugar), so i decided to watch them all before the phonecian scheme. and holy fuck. he’s amazing. the movies are all so implicit in their message yet so obvious. the characters and their actions are so absurd. the framing and the shots are nothing short of perfect. life aquatic is my favorite thus far, by far. his others were great too (i’m skipping bottle rocket because people say it’s best to watch after being familiar with his style), but this one‘s atmosphere and characters were just impeccable. maybe it’s because it’s summer, and maybe it’s because love stories can be so trite, but watching a hard-ass struggle with his ego while commanding a boat crew and simultaneously trying to come to terms with being a father is right up my alley. i have a feeling i’m not gonna be this big a fan of all of anderson’s movies after this one, but i’m still so excited. i have high hopes.

i have quite a few but the two that came to me off the top of my head are coraline and being john malkovich lol i just love both those movies so much and they always help me feel at least somewhat better when i'm feeling down and i'd say people may consider them a bit weird :)

sooo good butter melts in my mouth and marmite when done right with a small amount dotted on adds the perfect amount of saltiness and flavour!
