killdeer, with their distinctive banded chests and orange eyes, are most commonly found hunting for insects on open ground such as pastures fields, sandbars, and mudflats During breeding season, courtship comes about through ritual nest scraping, which occurs in any open area with good visibility.
Though the young are cared for by both parents, they feed themselves and leave the nest soon after hatching
