Goated documentaries that are really bizarre in itself and leave you being astonished at the fact this is all actually real.

Super interesting documentary that’s shot with unbelievably great cinematography. It’s about an 100 year old guy who owns the largest renaissance fair (in the world?? i don’t remember) and all the internal politics of running it and who will take over when he dies a lot of humor and a lot of heart.

I have so many options depending on what you are into. Grey Gardens (1975) is a must watch, it's totally insane and nonsensical but wildly entertaining. The Jinx (2020) is shocking (true crime-ish), a bit slow at the beginning, but takes insane twists. The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters (2007) is something I was not expecting to like, but the people in it are hysterical and interesting.

Maybe some unorthodox choices but I’ve always been into non-narrative, experimental documentaries. Some of the best I know are “As I Was Moving Ahead, Occasionally I Saw Brief Glimpses of Beauty”, “Koyaanisqatsi”, “Sans Soleil”. These were some of the purest, most powerful cinematic experiences I’ve had in my life, so I’d suggest you peep them. On a (slightly) more conventional note, literally any documentary made by Herzog
