very poppy this week- needed some serotonin that only revisiting my high school ariana obsession could get (the song successful off sweetener is so damn good). iāve also been listening to my laurel canyon mix on spotify on the way to work in the morning and it sets such a good tone for my day. touchdown jesus is my friend owenās band and you should check them out!

-āManchildā by Sabrina CarpenterĀ this song is so condescending of himbos and i think itās the funniest thing. its so catchy and i love it! the chorus is- i canāt think of any other word to describe it other than adorableā¦ whichā¦ is not the right word, but i love sabrina carpenter and her vibe. her breathy vocals are just everything this song needs. like her sounding so cutesy while insulting her ex-lovers is so funny. and the music video is absurdist western nonsense and itās amazing.
-āDiscoā by Surf Curse this is what being head over heels sounds like. the compassionate love oozing from this song is everything. and theres something about the way the singer sounds and the distortion or whatever put over his voice that makes everything hit so much harder. indie rock love songs are my weakness (if anyone has anything like this, PLEASE SHARE)
-āIn Heavenā fromĀ Eraserhead so iām not willingly listening to this song, but itās unfortunately been stuck in my head. itās so damn creepy, i hate it. but i also love it. being from a dream sequence movie that relies heavily on the soundtrack and sound design, this song is perfect. David Lynch knew what he wanted for this song and he made it happen.Ā
-āTake Fiveā by Paul Desmond / The Dave Brubeck Quartet thereās a reason this song is a jazz standard. just something about a silly time signature, a solo saxophone, a two chord syncopated vamp, and the drums chilling on the (ride?) cymbalĀ and this song is kinda special to me as itās one of the first songs that really got me into jazz. and my schoolās jazz band almost played it but our director thought it was too difficult and we didnāt have the time to learn it. iām still pretty salty about that :(
-āgood 4 uā by Olivia Rodrigo bandle in 5 on this one. and honestly thatās how i remembered this song existed and found out i actually love it lol. the genre hint was pop punk and im like āolivia rodrigoās pop punk?ā and then i put this on and im like āhell yeah she isāĀ i hate that i can almost relate to the lyrics too. iām going through that canon event in a girls life of that guy sheās never dated. and i used to see him everyday in school and we talked, kinda. but now that schools done, now what? and i really like him and tried to put effort into our relationship, even just as friends. but heās barely trying, and still has the gall to call me a dear friend and ask what im doing FOUR YEARS IN THE FUTURE. ok rant over. š you will find me head banging over this song and you cannot stop me.Ā

ok i have revisited it since then but itās been a while and when tristesse/joie came on in the natural wine bar the other night i suddenly regained my will to live and man this whole record fucking rips. i found it originally when MTV was featuring āje veux te voirā nearly constantly in 2009. les femmes is also a really good song

šon my old car i used to have a bumper sticker that said āi hope you have a good dayā on it. one day i came out of the grocery store and someone had left a note on my car on a sheet of paper from their notebook that said āi hope YOU have a good day!ā i think about the person that went out of their way to leave that note a lot and hope that they know how sweet that was. i kept the note and put it in my junk journal/scrapbook and when iām having a bad day i like to look at it.
