Been doing it for 8~ years bc of cost and because I’m more satisfied with the way it looks when I do it myself, ion crème bleach never steered me wrong
I used to do my own gel nails but the acrylate allergy stuff freaked me out so now I’m back to regular polish

Pros- way cheaper than a salon, less damaging (no dremmel sanding off my nail bed or UV lights), easy to fix if a nail breaks or chips, you can get really good at it, you can always change up your look on the fly, and you can decide what brands/ products you use.
Cons- my office smells like nail polish/ nail polish remover for a little bit. Have to be patient and let them dry.

when Dolores O’Riordan died I got my mani pedi in black and maybe changed them once since then. the nail tech doesn’t even ask anymore. I pick and destroy my cuticles like they’re on fire unless they’re painted so, despite the Diva tone, it’s a health choice for me.
every couple years I take six month off as natural but I always end up jagged so I learned to find a signature and stick to it.

i love doing my nails at home. so much so, i taught myself how to cut my cuticles, file my ridges, and found a good non-toxic no-chip polish to do the trick. there‘s something so relaxing about freshening my hands up on a cold Sunday afternoon.

Every time I look something up on Google images, more and more of the results are AI slop. It’s lit a fire under me to collect more books - been looking at the art & fashion sections of used book stores and building up my library. It‘s also nice to have a finite source to seek inspiration from rather than getting caught in an infinite scroll.

I love hot pot so much that I bought a zojirushi one for home. Perfect for having friends over or for group trips, everyone brings their favorite veggies & meats and you cook and yap the night away.
