Historically, I have been too insecure to be a girl. That pressure of prettiness, of being delicate, of being desirable. I refused to engage. But this year something has shifted. I love cardigans, I want to talk about how I do my hair, I learned how to do make-up. Even though I'm not a model, I adore making myself feel pretty and sexy. I'm falling in love with the culture of feminism, and reclaiming mother earth as a mother. Girlhood is something so insanely precious and now, despite it being so hard, I am so unbelievably grateful I get to experience it. Want to merge my soul with every woman on the planet and scream OH HOW I LOVE BEING A WOMAN!

i saw these two ladies in line, one applying lip gloss on her friend while the other held her phone up as a mirror. i took a picture, we giggled, and every time we passed each other in the bar later on, we would tell each other we loved each other.
couple that with all the bathroom compliments and general glee over seeing beautiful women, girlhood is unmatched. girlhood is genuine. and it makes me sad that boys will never experience it

I think that reflecting over songs that are ironic to you as a person is very important because it shows that you can be retrospective of who you are and be mindful of how other people think. I have liked the song, Sorority Girls, by Mommy Long Legs for a while, but I started contemplating it more after someone I follow on Instagram used the song for a video to spread some discourse. the person posting the video said that she personally had bad experiences with sorority girls and called attention to its problematic roots of white supremacy. I also had a conversation with my roommates about why there are so many paddles used. while it’s seen as a positive thing for our chapters, it has a history of violence from hazing. it still happens today, and even though it’s more rare, that’s awful. I like being able to question things about my surroundings so I’m self aware of what’s happening. sororities definitely have room to improve and there’s things “right“ and “wrong” with them for sure. I hope that I can be someone that can help my sorority improve even more since it seems to already be on the right track. I do understand the hate for sororities/sorority girls and I want to help change that. I don’t want to make it sound like my sorority is better than other sororities, or I’m better than the other girls in them. I’d rather let actions speak for themselves. I can’t speak as much about fraternities since I’m obviously not in one and I’m not close to anyone who’s in one.

🥪This is what I call it hahahah made by mums everywhere but the greased up version is sold along stalls in Mumbai. Two regular slices of white bread, buttered, and the middle filling is cream cheese with red onions, coriander/cilantro, tomatoes and some minced chillis. All veggies chopped mini cube size so they blend with the cheese. Toasted crispy.
