My biggest thing when being in a funk is feeling stuck somewhere, so I force myself to put on some clothes and put myself somewhere new so my mind can follow. @devisthatgirl already covered going on a walk, you could also: - go on a random drive and listen to music/podcasts - go to a craft store - go to a free museum - or literally just find somewhere quiet outside the house - I recommend no scrolling and just sit, smell, listen, look closely at the things around you. I've been there many times - you can do this!! <3

I'm not a poem writer, but I do enjoy creative writing and I've found when I'm facing any form of creative slump going somewhere new is always helpful. Taking a walk and observing the architecture(historical context of the neighborhood), sitting in your local library, a shower/bath, visit a restaurant, a park, take a break and go hang out with friends with a notebook tucked in your bag just in case. Changing scenery always does me wonders.

either going on a hike or just exploring and taking my time somewhere in nature. It helps me to get some perspective and reset. I prefer somewhere with a creek, I like looking at different rocks trying to find ones that have cool shapes/textures/colors. look for national/state forests or wildlife refuges near you! for creative ruts, i’ll do an excercise sometimes where I look for weird shadows or leaves or anything really and try and turn those shapes into characters or just see how my brain reinterprets them. it’s a nice low stakes creative game

No music, quiet, just listening to anything and everything you can. it can be your own footsteps — focus on your pace if you want. If there are birds near where you live I’d highly recommend the Merlin Bird ID app for birdsong identification. It’s crazy what simply existing in the presence of another living thing can do, especially when that something isn’t human. if you live in a city, listen for people’s laughter or children’s voices. When I feel all consuming sadness it often helps for me to get moving (I like hiking but I live in a place that allows it) but it also helps to listen, and in doing so imagining that I am the same as everything else — the birds, the air, the ground. It takes the pressure off existing.

i want to know where you came from! how you've changed! how you're doing now! is that really such a crime? is this not why social media exists?

I imagine a piece of ribbon being carried by the wind. seemingly delicate, but strong when facing pressure. can falter without proper support (knot). a resounding eagerness to make others happy (gifts, compliments). rings of happy memories from holidays. longs for the girlhood of me, my mother, and my grandmother - to be tied around their hair just one more time.
