nick3 cyanotype printing is a means of capture a imagine through a combination of chemicals (potassium ferricyanide + ferric ammonium citrate) with UV rays (some people know it as sun printing)!
essentially you mix two liquids of each chemical, and then combine those together! with that mixture you can put it on whatever you want to print on! i will try to normally let the chemical emulsion dry in a dark place since the chemicals are light sensitive. once it’s dry, you can pop whatever you want onto the treated paper and place it in the sun and watch the magic happen and for it to turn blue!!!
it doesn’t need long depending on how sunny it is - but you can also use a UV lamp if you have access to one! then you rinse and you’re golden (or blue idk LOL)
people like normally just foraging for botanicals, ive also done a handful of prints with “negatives” I printed of photos with transparency papers you can buy!
anyways thank you for coming to my ted talk, while I’m big on cyanotype this is my first time working with alternative photo processes and it’s been fun so I’m happy to talk and share about it :)

lucius from my v limited knowledge I think it’ll shorten the lifespan of the print but a lot of people do do cyanotype shirts!

This is dope! I messed around with cyanotype last summer and have been planning on getting back into it this summer. I actually have a few plain totes I bought for this exact reason.
The library of congress and the Met have online collections of public domain (royalty free) images that you can print onto transparency film and use with the cyanotype.
