Have never learned and the initial learning of the basics is seeming scary 🤒 but I keep seeing things and thinking that as an unemployed student I rly need to be making not buying things. also fun and customisable! The seamstresses in my life have so much fun 🤩

BEING HUMBLED

I am taking an Intro to Sewing class every Sunday and it is a supremely humbling experience. The first week we learned how to make a scrunchie. Yesterday we made an elastic-waist skirt (Mean Girls™️ fabric). I am not good at any part of this and have to get over my perfectionist mindset. Showing up every week and being humbled before the great sewing machine has been totally inspiring. So much so, that I’ve ordered a refurbished sewing machine to keep practicing at home (and eventually I’ll be making / mending / hemming things of my own).

learning to sew

im taking a wearable art class this semester and our main assignment is to create a wearable art piece. i've loved designing clothing/wearable art since i was very young, and yet i've never really learned how to sew past a simple hand stitch. here's some of my process work in building the pattern pieces!!!

i got my old CD player out of storage last week and this week i went to a flea market and picked up some CDs. i have mostly been listening to the dave brubeck quartet and tapestry by carole king. also: love listening to an album all the way through.
