if it’s emotions/anxiety/perfectionism: journal, maybe even talk to a therapist if you’re feeling too exhausted: get a good night’s sleep and consider having coffee the next morning if you’re glued to your phone: delete any social media apps, use an app like screenzen to limit times on time consuming apps feel “stuck” or antsy: go for a walk, study in a place you don’t normally study if you’re confused/worried about doing it “correctly”: meet with your boss/professor and ask Qs so you can get a clearer you don’t know where to start: think about and write down every single step for the task, then use that as a checklist

as in if u make it a requirement of urself you might obsess over having to accomplish it and that can paralyse u, as is my experience with adhd and executive dysfunction if possible i suggest turning your brain off for a bit(use music to distract if u can) and moving kind of on instinct? wake up, make your bed, get your coffee, get your breakfast, make sure you clean the kitchen as you go and put your dishes away/wash them as soon as you finish eating, go back to your coffee and sit with it for a while to transition into the day. this is all kind of general but the point is to have casual, repetitive(everyday) tasks to slowly introduce you to a routine. i find it important to clean/pick up anything after disrupting it because clutter and messes always distract me from my thoughts and continue to nag me if left alone-making the likelihood high that ill face a shutdown due to the task becoming another extra step to face later. it also makes it easy to think just about lunch when it comes around and theres no clutter left from breakfast dont try to force anything and ask urself what you have the energy for, dont use up all ur fuel first thing in the morning and run out of steam later in the day- job hunting is a constant battle with rejection and managing your energy levels thru it all is important

I really struggled with all the unstructured time post-grad and my body totally flipped like what do you MEAN I have nothing to do and if I do nothing, nothing will happen? This rec is annoying, but as a skilled layabout, it really helped me overcome the whole “what do I do all day” thing and also the “why am I falling asleep at 3 AM and waking up at noon?” thing to make a loose schedule and try to adhere. If you’re applying for jobs, school, or even just pondering what to do next, think about:  At what time during the day do I feel most awake and alive? Then, block out like four hours around that window. I try to do 90 minutes of focused work at a time with like 60 minutes between for chilling. So, if you can start with two little blocks of working on applications or doing some intentional, focused pondering, great. Gradually, you can increase the amount of work if you want.  Then, plan the rest of your day around things you need and want to do - move your bod, eat, socialize. Things like talking a short walk in the morning to get some sunlight, going to the movies, and calling friends, lighten me up!  Keep it simple babe!  Post-grad, I laid on a couch for three months in stay at home girlfriend mode totally consumed by fear. I asked a lot of older people how they figured things out and they told me that nobody ever does. I like to do some meditations on intention and listening to yourself (linked). And I agree with capyboppy...try to stay present and pay attention to what you got going on right now! The weight of future is heavy becuase you probably want your life to be sick and meaningful

1) Make plans: a lot of language schools, embassies and universities offer free entry events. So figure out what you're interested in. If you enjoy film and tv, French language schools often have screenings. If you like cooking, East Asian embassies often do demos. If you like history, universities often offer seminars. Make plans and do them. If you wake up on the day of and don't want to go, that is a sign that you absolutely need to. Go out, try something or learn something, stay for the refreshments and talk to people, and don't put any pressure on yourself to perform in any way, just be in the moment and connect with your interests and people. 2) Eat robust meals: you need to eat. As someone who has been the person who chugs an energy drink down, or has a coffee with an apple, it is not enough. Your mind needs sustenance otherwise you tire quickly and it feels like your brain is leaking out of your ear. But when you eat properly and you have a lot of protein, starch, veg etc in your meals, you feel the difference. So get your favourite cup and plate and put a filling meal on it. 3) Commit to a new hobby. It can be anything. The reason you need to commit is to get into the discipline of needing to get out of bed to do it. Painting, walking, making music etc. Commit to learning or doing something that requires that you get out of bed, and that requires some level of focus. Bonus: look at your phone usage and if there are apps that you use too much, delete them off of your phone and only use them on desktop/laptop.
