i’m still learning eye shadow at 32 and have always regretted eyeliner attempts so here we are lmao
since i don’t buy foundation/blush/other products regularly i splurge a little on the mascara, lately loving Lancôme Lash Idôle 🖤

If you want a little eyeliner pizzazz that’s easy you could try either tight lining with a pencil (drawing the pencil on the water line of your eyelid under the roots of the eyelashes—ew I know but it looks great) or just use an angled brush and a soft brown eyeshadow along your lash line and very very slightly out past the outer end… much more forgiving — signed, someone who is also bad at eyeliner 💌 lol

taterhole ty for the tips!! 🩷 i’ve done tight lining before and it just wasn’t a good look on me (eyes too small maybe?) but i need to give that eye shadow one a try!

thickrimmedgirl tight lining can be awesome for smaller eyes to give definition without crowding the lid space BUT if that was an issue you were having I would recommend doing only the upper lash line and only the outer half or even outer third. Lining along the outer half or outer third is a good rule of thumb with eyeliner in general to make eyes look bigger and not overwhelm them!!

I have recently discovered the magic of simplifying my skincare routine and makeup has since followed!
I use drugstore products mostly, and I am v fair so I may use products that have shite shade ranges (sorry in advance if true)
my go-to products: *elf suntouchable primer is MAGIC — a total supergoop dupe that makes my skin glow (and has sunscreen) *milani conceal + perfect foundation literally makes my jaw drop I’m OBSESSED, it doesn’t cake or pill, makes my skin feel hydrated, and blends sooo easily. I literally use my hands *eyelash curler, a cheap one works just as good as an expensive one *nars orgasm liquid blush is sooo good, can also pat with my hands to blend easily *clear mascara or brow gel + a solid tweezer and mini scissors to maintain brows *find a lip liner pencil shade that works for you and buy 20; lip lining is easy and really makes a difference even if you don’t use lipstick! (as long as the shade is subtle)

I’ve been really liking doing concealer, blush, eyebrow gel, a little bronzer and some eyeshadow and NO MASCARA. This has been a game changer and it’s made it so much easier to wash my face at night

Do you want a simple, buildable everyday routine? Or are you looking for fun, experimental and accessible recs?
My everyday makeup is blush (Ilia At Last multistick), mascara (Ilia volumizing mascara), and lipstick (Clinique Black Honey, or Ilia Colorblock in Tango).
When I want concealer or foundation, I use Nars Radiant Creamy concealer, and Tarte Maracuja tinted hydrator— if I want something lighter I might just top my face with Laura Mercier loose setting powder.
If you want eye makeup or night out recs, I have this Morphe pink palette I’ve used forever, and the Tarte Quick Stick eyeliner and shadow sticks.
It’s very okay to still feel “bad at makeup”— it should feel fun, and low stakes, and what works for other people might not be what works for you— you have your whole life to find your products.

bc it’s what I originally wanted when I first went to college at 17 but I was scared to make writing my job and got a B.S. in Nutrition instead lol
Now the goal is an eventual PhD in Victorian Literature but I’m just happy to have made it through this part at 32!
Stacked is everything I read in my English courses—barely pictured are the 5 stuffed accordion folders of other reading materials under my chair haha
