I’m lucky to live in a neighborhood with a ton of Little Libraries and I use them often! Now whenever I finish a book that I know I won’t reread, I pop it in the Little Library. Declutterring and spreading the joy of reading at the same time! I also sometimes put little things I’m getting rid of in them like notepads, stickers, little accessories. Some people see this as a no-no but I figure that it’s a fun little come up to find. I’ve also found a few really great books in Little Libraries but I try to be choosy with what I take because I already have so many books to read.

These things are so cute. Donate a book take a book! And sometimes you might just come across to a new favorite read.

I don't have the cash or the space to buy these things, but I love reading them. My local library stocks new art books every week and I check out all of them. Even if it's not my thing, I can flip through it in ten minutes and feel like I did a good deed for my brain.

I‘ve been struggling to pick-up books lately. Not for any particular reason, maybe besides motivation. However, when I’m on a walk and I see these little libraries in front of peoples‘ houses I’m hooked. They’re like mailboxes but for everyone! I’m currently reading Zeitoun by Dave Eggers. Which is about a family and their struggle through Hurricane Katarina. It’s a great read, and these little libraries are probably chock-full of way more just like it. They should the same for movies or video games. Can you imagine being on a walk and opening up a box with Madden ‘07 for the Gamecube? I can only dream.

There is something really satisfying about the non-addictive quality of the website version. Recently I’ve deleted most apps off of my phone and decided to use the website version. It gives me an excuse to go on my laptop and get some of that pre-social media nostalgia experience before things were so accessible. I love that I’m inclined to quit the browser after completing what I intended to do rather than mindlessly scrolling forever and experiencing targeted ads. It reminds me of a time when the internet was still a wild place full of discovery rather than an endless consumption machine.

I just watched this documentary on Hipgnosis, the art studio behind some of the most iconic album covers in rock history. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Wings, and countless others. It’s amazing how they created the covers without computers and photoshop. Truly magical and inspiring and made me want to make art ✨

A favorite artist of mine had a solo show in a gallery and I was extremely excited to attend, having only seen the work digitally. The artist posted a story offering to come to the gallery and give folks a talk about the artwork, all you had to do was send a DM. A little nervously, and maybe one wine in, I messaged him to say I’d love to take him up on the offer. And he said yes! We scheduled the time and met at the gallery for an in-depth tour of the artwork, his process, inspirations, and associations with the work. A deeply inspiring and personal experience that I’m so glad I got to have. Maybe think about taking people up on their offers from a stick of gum, to a ride to the airport, to the last slice of cake. It feels really good to receive.
