i’ve lived in both the South and the North throughout my life and while i don’t use it frequently, i will say Southerners really went off with this one. it’s even meaner when said to a non-Southerner who doesn’t know what it means… THE backhanded compliment of all time

i’m from northern alabama, and i’m not 100% sure this is completely southern, but it killllls me every time i hear an older relative say it. it’s so brutal.
another one is “you think you’re shit on a stick, but you’re just a fart on a splinter!”
there are many more, but those are the first two to come to mind. they just don’t make sayings like they used to.

‘hug my neck’ haunts me always. lovingly. just pops in my head: a hug, but not just anywhere, hug the neck, which irl can be anywhere without question, but the invitation is always as such
‘can’t speak?!’ haunted me lately, popped up and startled me. so audacious. you see someone avoiding you or just making their way to speak to others and you bark out ‘can’t speak?!’ pronounced cayn-t. and always as a 'non-plussed yet still offended' question

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WORKER’S DAY!!!! i love having a union, i love being a union steward and getting to support my unit. when my union won its contract, i got a pay bump, better benefits, and increased protection as a worker. 🥳
unions help address racial and gender pay gaps, issues workplaces impose on families and those having kids, addressing unsafe conditions, plus things like better health insurance, wages and overtime, weingarten rights to representation, and more!!!
